After months of speculation, a trade almost came to fruition between the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers, but after the two sides couldn't come together, it appeared as though a deal was dead.
Now, after all that speculation and all the comments between the two parties, J.T. Miller has officially been traded to the New York Rangers after he officially waived his No Movement Clause to make it happen.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the deal is done, with the two teams making the trade call to make things official after so much speculation over the past few months.
Despite all of the issues that Miller has had on and off the ice this season, he's still put up 31 points in 35 games, and with a new lease on life now, he's got a good chance to turn things around and make a major push for a Stanley Cup in 2024/25.
While Miller's first few seasons in Vancouver were full of success, the public feud with Elias Pettersson just wouldn't go away, and in the face of mounting pressure and struggles on the ice, this was a move that the Canucks simply needed to make.
Whether or not Canucks fans are happy with the return only time will tell, but given the negative that Miller was in the locker room, any deal made here would be addition by subtraction, but with the team getting a solid piece in return, this could be the move that sparks a major turnaround for the Canucks.
Stay tuned for further details, but for now, J.T. Miller returns to the New York Rangers, the place where he started his NHL career as they look to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals.
