Dubois' Agent Reportedly Tells Jets his Client's Plan Does Not include Winnipeg
There has ben a ton of speculation regarding the future of Pierre-Luc Dubois with the Winnipeg Jets. The latest report has his agent straight up telling the team his client won't be staying with them.
No Bridge
Here's what TSN Insider Pierre Lebrun had to say on Insider Trading.
"Our understanding is Pat Brisson has informed the Winnipeg Jets that his client isn't inclined to sign an extension this summer, not even a one-year bridge. Pat Brisson would like to work with the Jets on a trade for Dubois to another team"
As a restricted free agent, Dubois does not have complete control over where he ends up. But it seems clear staying with the Jets isn't an option. It has long been rumoured that Dubois would like to play for the Montreal Canadiens, his hometown team. It makes a lot of sense given where the organization is right now. Dubois is still just 24 years old, and has shown over the last two seasons that he has the potential to be a first-line fixture in the NHL.
Winnipeg Woes
As tough as it will be to replace Dubois, Winnipeg should be able to hefty return in assets for him. But with members of its core aging out and likely headed elsewhere, losing someone of Dubois' caliber, even if it has nothing to do with the city, is still a hard pill to swallow.
