The Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche are showing other teams how it's done with a wild game one in their first round 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs series.
Game one of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs between the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche was an absolutely wild one, with the team trading goals, chances, and punches like crazy. The Jets, who have home-ice advantage in the series, got scored on early, with the Avs Valeri Nichushkin getting the first goal of the series.
Not long after, Winnipeg's Josh Morrissey tied it at 1, while Vladislav Namestnikov also potted one to make it 2-1 Jets.
Still in the first period, Colorado got the next two to take a 3-2 lead with Miles Wood and Nathan MacKinnon scoring. Mark Scheifele scored next to make it 3-3. That's when things started to get unsettled.
"This series making the others look like exhibition games."
Close to halfway through the second period, Jets captain Adam Lowry scored to put his team back on top. He decided to add some insult to injury by pointing towards the Avs net to signify a goal.
"The CAPTAIN Adam Lowry gives the Jets the lead, and then points at the cage he just scored on. TOUGH 😮💨"
If game one is any indication, this series should be very entertaining for as as it lasts. Either way, a good team will be getting eliminated from the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round.
