Former NHLer shares one of the most intimidating things that was ever said to him and Ryan Reaves by another enforcer
In 2010/2011 Cam Jansen and Ryan Reaves played together as members of the St. Louis Blues. The two were both known for their willingness to throw punches with almost anyone in the league. Since retirement Jansen began his own podcast with Andy Strickland.
On the podcast Jansen shares great stories from his time as an NHL player and helps provide a behind the scenes look at life in the league. On the most recent edition of the show Jansen and Strick hosted former NHL enforcer Steve MacIntyre.
Over his 5-year career MacIntyre played with 3 different teams and dressed for 91 games. In those 91 games Mac scored 2 goals and added 2 assists, but his scoring wasn't what he was known for. "Big Mac" was on the ice for one reason and one reason only and that was to keep other players honest. In his 91 games Mac accumulated 175 penalty minutes while only averaging 3:26 of ice time per night.
On the podcast Jansen recalled a night when he'd lined up next to teammate Ryan Reaves. It was then that MacIntyre approached the two men and delivered an ominous message.
Daddy's home, who wants to go to sleep?
Listen to the entire clip above. Kevin Shattenkirk, played with both men shared his memory of the event and just how intimidating the entire situation was.
Jansen confirmed that neither he or Reaves took MacIntyre up on his request for a fight. This is just another amazing example of the great content being created by former players.
