The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing off against the Vancouver Canucks tonight and it didn't take long for this game to turn heated.

Early on in the 1st period, Canucks forward Dakota Joshua levelled David Kampf at centre and it didn't take long for the Leafs to respond, something they have struggled switch recently as Mark Giordano was quick to drop the gloves; take a look.

Dakota Joshua lays a big hit on Kampf and, shortly thereafter, has a spirited fight with Mark Giordano

Both men landed some shots, but Giordano clearly got the better of Joshua in this while connecting with some mean shots.

Giordano, however did pick up the instigator as a result, but as the fans proved while he was skating to the box, standing up for your teammates is more important than of you take an instigator penalty.

At 40 years old, Giordano can still go and not only that but still has the passion to play the game, which is something for the Leafs that has been hard to come by.
