Emotions tend to run a lot higher in the latter part of the National Hockey League season as teams start jockeying for playoff positioning and this year is no different, in fact, I would argue that the level of play is higher now than it normally is going into the playoffs, boy did this prove it.
Last night, the Carolina Hurricanes faced off against the Florida Panthers in what was a very important game in Carolina. The Panthers are known for being an in your face type team, but the Hurricanes never back down from a fight. As such, things boiled over and everyone on the ice got involved as the buzzer sounded on a 1-0 win for the Canes; take a look.
WE GOT FIREWORKS AT THE END OF THE CANES-CATS GAME 💥
KOCHETKOV IS IN THE MIX 😱
Right as the buzzer sounded to end the game, the two teams converged along the boards and it wasn't long before everyone either grabbed a dance partner or started throwing punches.
Hurricanes defender Brett Pesce was obviously very bothered by someone as you could see him attempt to grab someone at the bottom of the pile multiple times. Even the Hurricanes goaltender came out of the net and wanted a piece of the action, but unfortunately he was taken down the refs.
I think it's safe to say there's some bad blood between the Hurricanes and Panthers and a new rivalry is obviously brewing in the NHL's eastern conference.
