Victor Hedman to miss time due to injury, Jon Cooper reveals just how much
The Tampa Bay Lightning have hopes of making it to their 4th consecutive Stanley Cup Finals. Unfortunately the Lightning have hit their worst stretch of hockey in nearly 4 years. The Lightning have lost 5 consecutive games and 8 of their last 10. That losing streak was capped off by a 6-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, where the team only managed 14 shots, and 0 shots during the second period.
The loss to the Hurricanes wasn't the worst part of the game though. Early in the 2nd period, star defender, Victor Hedman took an awkward fall and limped off the ice.
Hedman made an attempt to return to the game, but was unable to continue. After the game Cooper confirmed that Hedman had suffered an injury, but the team was unsure just how bad the injury was. Today the Lightning confirmed that Hedman would miss time due to the injury, but Cooper is hopeful it won't keep him out of the lineup long-term.
Jon Cooper confirms Victor Hedman is out tonight, but Erik Cernak will be back in the lineup for Tampa Bay. Cooper said he hopes that Hedman won't miss an extended amount of time and said, "I'd put him in that day-to-day category." The Lightning will look to end their struggles tonight against the Flyers, they will have to do it without Victor Hedman. While the news of Hedman being day-to-day is positive, it has to be concerning after Hedman suffered what appears to be a back injury.
