The Toronto Maple Leafs were without a very key forward during the first game against the Boston Bruins on Saturday William Nylander missed Saturday's game due to injury for the first time in seven or eight years according to reports, Nylander tweaked something during the off day on Thursday, which held him out of The first game of the series.

Yesterday, according to TSN's Chris Johnston Nylander was on the ice for the first time since playing just under 18 minutes in the Maple Leafs last game of the regular season; take a look.

William Nylander was among the #leafs who took part in a highly optional skate in Boston this afternoon. It's the first time he's been spotted on the ice since Wednesday's game in Tampa.

Nylander, 27, played in all 82 games for the Maple leafs this season, scoring 40 goals and adding 58 assists for a total of 98 points. Like I said above, it's very uncommon for Nylander to games due to injury, there's no way the medical staff of the Toronto Maple leaves didn't know going into Wednesday season finale that something was going on.

This seems like a case of very poor injury management to the point where you have to call into question the Maple Leafs, and their medical staff for having one of their top miss arguably the most important game of the season.

Things are hopeful for Nylander to return today, but there's no injury updates in the playoffs like during the regular season so his status is still up in the air. Just before the playoffs head coach, Sheldon Keefe admitted that Nylander had checked out during the final portion of the regular season if that was the case, Why play him? For sake I hope he's in the lineup for game two.
