There are 5 matinee games around the National Hockey League today before the rest of the 13-game slate kicks off tonight, with that being the case, we have some intriguing matchups that have already started.
The Vancouver Canucks are in Detroit today to take on the Red wings and with less than 5 minutes gone in the 2nd period, newly acquired Canucks defender Nikita Zadorov hits Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond; take a look.
Zadorov gets the boot after this hit on Lucas Raymond
Zadorov would end up getting a 5-minute major and a game misconduct on the play as a result.
At first glance, it appears to be a hit go the head, but it actually seems as though Zadorov and Raymond clash heads with Raymond getting the worst of it.
After everything this year, that seems to be a soft game misconduct call, but maybe we're seeing the league pivot. Which would be a good thing.
