The Canucks met the Edmonton Oilers last night in what turned into a 7-3 loss. It was one of those games the Canucks will look to forget. Notably though, they were without Brock Boeser. Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet spoke about Boeser after last night's loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
He did not seem to alarmed, but admitted that there is uncertainty with him for the time being. The way he put it made it seem like he could return at any moment, but we just do not know for sure when that will be.
Canucks general manager Patrick Alvin even commented on Boeser himself saying that his timeline for a return is indeed, uncertain.
Of course, Boeser is out of the lineup due to a hit he received from LA Kings forward Tanner Jeannot on the team's road trip. Jeannot was ultimately ejected from the game and suspended for three more for the hit.
Boeser has been a critical part of the Canucks so far this season. He leads the team in goals with 6 and is tied for second in points with 11 with JT Miller and Connor Garland. Quinn Hughes leads the team with 15 points.
What is impressive is that he was scoring at that rate despite getting nearly a minute and a half less ice time than last season as Rick Tocchet tried to even out the ice times for everyone.
This style of player usage does make it easier to fill in for injuries, but clearly no one can replace Boeser's pure talent and goal scoring ability.
Hopefully he won't miss too many games or it could have a legitimate impact on their record by the end of the season. Already, they are 0-1 with him out of the lineup.
