TSN Insider Chris Johnston was on Insider Trading and spoke about future plans for the 2023 World Juniors. The IIHF officially withdrew the 2023 World Junior Championship from the scheduled host nation on Tuesday. There is currently five bids in the running and Halifax and Moncton are the favorites.

We're going to know soon. And, you know, there's already been some talks it's going to be Halifax and Moncton, that they're the favorites among the five bids. Well Hockey Canada has not made a final decision. In fact, there is another call with the selection committee on Thursday where they're going to continue to work through this. But this tournament coming up in December and January, it's pretty soon, they're trying to get to that conclusion very quickly.

Edmonton will host the entire 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in August. Canada was given 2022 hosting rights after agreeing to host in 2021 without fans, with the hope of making money with the return of in-person spectators in 2022.

Fans of Hockey on the East Coast of Canada will be excited to hear this news. The last time the World Junior tournament was held in the East Coast was 2003. It was held in Halifax, and Sydney, Nova Scotia. Russia won the gold medal with a 32 victory over Canada in the championship game.
