Joe Thornton tries to bully Tomas Nosek, but Nosek refuses to back down
Joe Thornton has a temper, we saw it last season, when as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs he did everything possible to fight Nikolaj Ehlers. Unlike with the Maple Leafs, this year Thornton hasn't been an NHL regular. He's only suited up in 31 games this season.
Being the veteran he is, Thornton knows that he must make the best out of every opportunity he has in the lineup. Tonight he opted to do that by showing a physical edge to his game. At the end of the 1st period a scrum broke out between the two teams.
Unable to initially find a willing combatant, Thornton eventually was able to pull Nosek from the pile. The two exchanged some shots before Thornton eventually got Nosek up against the boards.
Both Thornton and Nosek were awarded 2-minute roughing minors on the play.
