Alex DeBrincat throws shade at the Chicago Blackhawks
Newly acquired winger Alex DeBrincat is enthused to be a part of this year's Ottawa Senators team. Ottawa has had a busy off season and has made some nice additions to their hockey club. They look to be one of the more improved teams in the NHL and you would think they would be in the hunt for a playoff spot.
It is easy to understand why DeBrincat is excited to be in Ottawa. He's on a competitive hockey team now and he's been on a line with Claude Giroux and Tim Stutzle. The three of them look like they have chemistry playing together and will be lighting the lamp often for the Senators.
DeBrincat spent the last five season in Chicago and as a player he was productive there. However, Chicago looks to be in the introductory stages of a rebuild. It is unlikely they will be competitive this year. Sure DeBrincat will miss his teammates and miss playing with Patrick Kane but it might be quite a while before Chicago is good again. DeBrincat even stated, «I'm not so sure it'll be that good in Chicago.» Clearly DeBrincat realizes that Chicago is a long way from competing for a playoff spot. NHL players want to win and play on competitive teams and Alex DeBrincat is no different.
It will be intriguing to watch and see what numbers Alex puts up this year playing with two very good linemates and a better overall hockey team.
