An NHL Insider is one of the favourites to be the next San Jose Sharks General Manager
The San Jose Sharks search for a new General Manager is heating up as the off season approaches. Former San Jose Sharks' GM Doug Wilson announced that he was stepping down from his position at the beginning of April having been on medical leave from the team since November of last year.
According to Lisa Dillman, Senior Writer for the Athletic a name to keep an eye on would be former NHL goaltender, Kevin Weekes. Although, she's not sure if the Sharks selection process will speed up all that much.
Have seen a few names out there regarding San Jose. Not sure how fast the process is moving and the timeline, etc.,but I'd keep an eye on the name Kevin Weekes (@KevinWeekes )
Kevin Weekes is a former 11-year NHL veteran who compiled a record of 105-163-39 with 19 shutouts over 348 games played in the NHL
Weekes is an interesting decision for sure. Since retirement, he's served mostly as a TV analyst that has little to no experience in the front office of an NHL team. However, he's noted as an eloquent speaker with a burning desire to challenge hockey norms. If the Sharks are looking to shake things up in the front office, I think Weekes would be an ideal choice.
Weekes has also gone on to become one of the most trusted Hockey Insiders in a matter of 2-years, surpassing the likes of Darren Dreger and Pierre LeBrun when it comes to reliability.
