Tuesday morning, the New York Rangers and General Manager, Chris Drury made the announcement that Jacob Trouba had been selected as the next Captain of the Rangers. Trouba officially becomes the 29th Captain in Franchise history. The franchise hasn't had a Captain since 2018.

In 2018, the Rangers traded Ryan McDonagh to the Tampa Bay Lightning. This trade marked the beginning of a rebuild for the Rangers and in doing so the franchise admitted they wanted to ensure they had the right person to wear the "C" when they finally announced a Captain.

Many of Trouba's teammates and former teammates have taken to social media to congratulate him. However, Artemi Panarin would take to Twitter to congratulate his new captain and yet roast him at the same time. Saying jokingly he would have been the better pick for Captain.

Despite Panarin's jokes there have been rumors surrounding him that Ranger's GM Chris Drury hasn't been happy with Panarin's play or his contract. So despite Breadman's joke, it's pretty clear he wasn't in the running for the "C".
