Asking price for Jonathan Toews is revealed and it's reasonable
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has reported what the current market value is for Jonathan Toews. At this point it looks like the Blackhawks are asking for a second and third round pick in next year's draft. That seems like a pretty reasonable asking price and teams will not have to sacrifice their first round pick in a draft that is supposed to have a lot of talent.
Freidman also commented that he wonders if Toews is considering the Winnipeg Jets as a destination. It makes sense. The Jets are playing real will this year and sit in first place in the Central division. Toews is also from Winnipeg and he could have the opportunity to play for the city he grew up in. Both of those reasons would make it appealing to Toews. Remember Toews has a no movement clause in his contract so he has the final say where he wants to be traded to.
Sure Toews isn't the consistent scorer that he used to be, but he still could add value to a playoff team. He's good on faceoffs, can play in multiple situations throughout the lineup, and he's won multiple Stanley Cups. That is just the type of experience NHL Franchises are looking for come trade deadline time. There have been all kinds of reports and rumors of where Chicago's two star players might end up this year. As the trade deadline gets closer, look for these rumors to persist.
