Sean Avery, a former New York Ranger who was famously known as one of the greatest agitators the NHL has ever seen, has found himself in the news this year, yet again, but this time, it's not some publicity stunt. Avery 42, was found guilty of criminal mischief after hitting a car with a scooter after the car was blocking a bike lane.
In true Sean Avery fashion, he left the courthouse after the guilty verdict with a big smile painted across his face, wearing sunglasses and shorts. He did not comment on the judge's verdict.
The incident took place back in late February of, 2019, when he smashed the driver's side door of a minivan with his scooter, thus dubbing him the protector of bike lanes in New York City.
The judge ordered protection for all of the victims, including a small child. Avery himself admitted to screaming at the driver and passengers in the vehicle but says his tune changed when he saw a small child in the back of the car, he also made fun of the driver for being bald.
Avery did not take a plea deal and instead opted for the two day trial which found him guilty
Avery was sentenced to time served in the case.
