Borje Salming's wife provides another heartbreaking update on an important family decision
Borje Salming is an NHL Legend, a hero to many and one of the best Swedish defenders to ever play in the National Hockey League. He's also currently battling late stage ALS, which has left him unable to speak and with limited mobility.
Borje and his family recently made the trip to Toronto to be honoured by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Salming was honoured in an emotional ceremony by his former teammates and team. Upon returning home to Sweden the Salming Family agreed to do another public appearance with the Swedish Hockey League.
At the ceremony Borje's wife Pia, made the following heartbreaking announcement:
We're not doing this anymore.
It's clear that this illness has taken a toll on the entire family. Pia has handled this entire process with class and grace. But at this time the family has decided it best for them to deal with this situation quietly as a family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.
