Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Makes his Feelings Extremely Clear on the J.T. Miller Trade
It goes without saying that the pair of trades made by Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin were long-awaited by fans, experts, and even players in the Canucks' locker room.
The feud between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller had reached a point of no return, and it seemed evident that it wouldn't end until one of them would be traded.
Finally, J.T. Miller ended up going back to the New York Rangers in return for Filip Chytil, Vittorio Mancini, and a conditional 2025 1st-round pick.
Yesterday, after the Canucks' 5-3 loss to the Dallas Stars, the team captain Quinn Hughes was asked to comment on the trade that sent Miller, his teammate for the past six years, to another organization.
Here's what he had to say:
"Yeah, I mean, obviously a lot of noise last couple weeks and months. But, you know, seeing him go, he's a heck of a hockey player, and enjoyed playing them for the six years that I had.
And you know, I obviously wish him the best, and personally, I'm gonna see him in six, seven days. So, but right now, it doesn't even really seem real, but next couple weeks, I'm sure it will sink in a little bit."
Then, the captain was asked to reveal how hard these two changes are for the team:
"I think not only myself, but you know, everyone in the organization, I think it's just been a lot of noise, and you know you know from Mizzy to it's been a lot of him. And I think he's looking forward to, you know, a fresh start. But we're obviously you know gonna miss him here."
It'll be interesting to see if the team will be able to bounce back on the ice, which would prove their struggles were linked to the toxic atmosphere in the locker room.
