The Vancouver Canucks made two huge trades on Friday, and now they've shockingly waived a veteran forward after acquiring two forwards in those deals.

The past 24 hours have been chaotic in Vancouver, with the team finally moving J.T. Miller in a blockbuster trade before following it up by acquiring Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Now, things have continued in shocking fashion, as Elliotte Friedman has now announced that Philip Di Giuseppe has been placed on waivers, with the 31-year old likely having his role taken by O'Connor after the trade.

The 31-year old has split time between Vancouver and Abbotsford over the past few years, and this season he's been more than a solid depth option, tallying 1 goal and 6 points in 20 games alongside a -2 differential for a struggling team.

While he's a perfect depth forward that could serve as the 13th forward on any team in the NHL, with the additions of O'Connor and Filip Chytil, they will need to figure out their lineup before potentially bringing him back into the fold and finding a role for him.

With 302 NHL games under his belt, Di Giuseppe could be an interesting waiver addition for any team however, as the former second-round pick brings great size and experience, and in the right position, could be a very sold bottom-six winger for a contending team.

Ultimately though, it's likely that he goes unclaimed with all of the chaos happening in the NHL at the moment, and once Vancouver have sorted out their lineup following these trades, there's a chance we see him back in their bottom-six as they continue to battle for a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
