Boxer who thought he was fighting invisible opponent passes away
Sad news out of the boxing world today, as South African fighter Simiso Buthelezi has passed away from injuries he sustained over the weekend. Simiso was in a fight for the African lightweight title when he suddenly turned away from his opponent and tried to fight an invisible opponent.
The referee immediately stopped the fight and called for medical attention. Simiso was rushed to local hospital, but an inability to get a speedy surgery led to the fighters decline. Unfortunately the brain bleed that led to Simiso's decline.
As a combat sports fan it's always a sad day when any athlete passes away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Simiso's Family.
