A former player, coach and legend within the Boston Bruins' organization has sadly passed away but will be remembered for a long time

Just a day after the announcement that four-time Stanley Cup winner and beloved member of the Montreal Canadiens Marcel Bonin had passed away comes news of the death of another beloved member of an NHL Original Six team.

Tom Mcvie, a legend within the Boston Bruins organization who is noted as being a funny person and a great story teller, has died at the age 89.

Boston Bruins President Cam Neely paid tribute to Tom McVie in a statement.

"The entire Boston Bruins organization is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tom McVie. Tom was a huge part of our Bruins family, having served as a coach, scout and ambassador for more than 30 years.

His hockey mind, colorful personality, gruff voice, and unmatched sense of humor livened up every room he entered and will be dearly missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom's family and many loved ones."

While he never played in the NHL, McVie had a long career in various other leagues before entering the executive side of hockey.

While he managed to get his name on the Stanley Cup with the Bruins organization in 2011, McVie started coaching in the NHL with the Washington Capitals, and moved on to the Winnipeg Jets (WHA version) before joining the New Jersey Devils as a coach.

His tenure with the Bruins was mainly served as an assistant coach, scout and ambassador for the team. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of legend Tom McVie.
