Breaking News - Calgary Flames and Mackenzie Weegar agree to a contract making Mackenzie Weegar a very rich man
When the Calgary Flames acquired Mackenzie Weegar and Jonathan Huberdeau many wondered if they'd be able to come to terms with each player on new contracts. The Flames were able to lock down Huberdeau to a deal last month, but questions still remained about Mackenzie Weegar. Weegar's camp had made it clear that he would be unwilling to continue negotiations into the regular season.
It appears that should no longer be a concern for the Flames or their fans, because Elliotte Friedman has announced that the two parties have come to terms on a new deal.
Hearing CAL and MacKenzie Weegar closing in on eight-year extension around the $50M range.
This deal will reportedly pay Weegar in the neighborhood of $6,250,000 per season and will keep Weegar in Calgary for the next 9 years. Last season with the Florida Panthers Weegar put up a career high 44 points in in 80 games. This signing cements Brad Treliving's off season as one of the best.
