Moments ago, the Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks announced that they completed a one-for-one trade. The Sabres will send defenceman Josh Bloom to the Canucks in exchange for forward Riley Stillman.

This trade is mostly a depth move, but it serves as a small add to a Buffalo roster trying to make the playoffs. Bloom is a 19 year old forward prospect, drafted in the third round by the Sabres in 2021. Stillman is a 24 year old defenceman already with 140 games played across the last 4 seasons.

Stillman will be able to provide some depth at the defence position for the Sabres as they play meaningful games down the stretch, and only gave up a mid-tier prospect to do so. It's a small move, but one that shows Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is attentive to his players' wishes to improve the team down the stretch.

On the other hand, Vancouver continues what looks to be a fire-sale rebuild. With the Canucks finally committing to sell assets at the deadline, be on the lookout to see Brock Boeser or Connor Garland to be moved as well.
