Breaking News - Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks make first trade of the season
It didn't take long for the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks to come together on the first trade of the season. With Tuesday's deadline for teams to be salary cap compliant, the Vancouver Canucks were desperate to move out money. The Blackhawks made it clear that they were willing to take on money in return for assets.
Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff shared the following:
#Canucks are able to get off Jason Dickinson's contract, sending him to #Blackhawks in a trade along with a second-round pick in exchange for defenseman Riley Stillman.
#Hawks had let all teams know they were willing to take on contracts. By moving Dickinson the Canucks clear $2,650,000 for the next two seasons. The Canucks paid a steep price to move this deal, but the Canucks were desperate to get under this year's salary cap.
