Well at times this season it didn't seem like it was going to happen, but according to sources Carey Price will be making his long awaited return to the Canadiens lineup this Friday. The Canadiens officially made the cap room by placing forward Jonathan Drouin on long-term injury reserve.
Price hasn't played since Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Price had off-season surgery to repair his nagging knee injury that had been hampering him since the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals.
Price was originally cleared to begin his rehab back in November but unfortunately Price has suffered setbacks with his knee before suffering a COVID setback in February.
Price is expected to make his return Friday at the Bell Centre versus the New York Islanders, according to sources 91.9 Sports.
The Canadiens only have 9 games left in the season, but Price wanted to play this season even if it was just one game. General Manager, Kent Hughes also wanted to get Price some action because it's believed that with the Canadiens in a rebuild Hughes is going to try and accommodate any trade request Price may have.
No matter how this season ends, Price will go down as one of the best to ever play for the Montreal Canadiens.
