Breaking News - Vegas Golden Knights trade Shea Weber
The NHL and their salary cap shenanigans continue today. With the Trade Deadline just 10 days away the Vegas Golden Knights have made a slightly peculiar move and traded Shea Weber and his contract.
The #VGK have traded Shea Weber's contract and a 2023 fifth-round pick to #coyotes in exchange for Dysin Mayo. This deal comes after the Golden Knights had previously placed Mark Stone on LTIR after he had back surgery. But more so than anything else this move sets up the Coyotes to continue to circumvent the salary cap, by acquiring players they'll never play pushing them over the cap floor.
Next season the Coyotes will be able to claim Weber's $7,857,143 salary on their cap, while only paying him $1,000,000 in actual salary. This continues to show just how successful Gary Bettman's favorite team is.
