Bruins looking to become tougher with this reported free agent targets
The Florida Panthers recently made the difficult decision to move on from Andrew Brunette and due to their current cap crisis, it looks like they may have to let forward Mason Marchment walk as well. Marchment is an unrestricted free agent, who has certainly outplayed his 1 year, $800K AAV contract in his 2nd year in the Panthers organization.
With Paul Maurice coming in, I can imagine Maurice will want to coordinate with Bill Zito on upcoming roster decisions.
Marchment's last contract was 2 years with an $925K AAV with the Maple Leafs, before being moved for Denis Malgin(Kyle Dubas trademark trade).
The forward has been linked to the Boston Bruins as reported by The Fourth Period. Such a move would be bold and smart, unlike Don Sweeney recently who fired winning coach Bruce Cassidy.
Marchment, who put up 18 goals and 29 assists for 47 points is due a raise undoubtedly.
The organization cannot afford the UFA so letting him test free agency is smart, but it cannot be stated how only having $3 million available in cap space hurts.
Marchment will continue to get better and a contributor wherever he ends up next.
