Calgary Flames fans finally receive some good news
In an off-season that has been filled with disappointment, the Calgary Flames and their fans finally have something to cheer about. After losing both Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, the Flames have been able to retain one of their own restricted free agents.
Last night the Flames announced that they'd come to an agreement with Andrew Mangiapane on a 3 year contract extension. Frank Seravalli released the following.
Hearing #Flames and Andrew Mangiapane have agreed to terms at 3 years x $5.8 million, avoiding arbitration.
While some feel $5,800,000 for Mangiapane is a bit of an overpay, the forward put up 35 goals last season and 20 assists. It will be interesting to see where Mangiapane slots into the lineup with the loss of two members of Calgary's top line, it likely means Mangiapane will face much tougher matchups.
