Calgary Flames prospect who speared Canucks player in the groin gets taught an important lesson
The playoffs, at any level of hockey, are the best time of year. The games are more intense, faster paced and more hard-hitting. Oh, and players from opposing teams never forget.
The Abbotsford Canucks and the Calgary Wranglers are locked in a tight physical series in which players have long memories like they normally would. After spearing a canucks player in game 1, Matthew Phillips learns why you never do that, especially in a playoff series, take a look:
Obviously this play was not well received and it started a scrum afterwards, you never like to see your teammate down on the ice
However, it goes to show you, things follow you in the playoffs, and if you spear a Canucks player like Phillips did in game 1, that follows you around.
Canucks defender Jett Woo, who delivered the big hit on Phillips was already not well-liked in Calgary, getting booed at every turn, and this will only turn the hate dial up on the series.
