Canadian team has already discussed a trade for Matthew Tkachuk
It really feels like a matter of when Matthew Tkachuk will be traded and not a matter of if. With the clock ticking before Tkachuk's arbitration hearing the Flames are desperate to find a trade partner to ensure they don't lose Tkachuk for nothing. With Tkachuk's availability there are likely 31 NHL teams interested in his services.
Today according to TSN1200, the Ottawa Senators have already reached out to the Calgary Flames and have begun discussing the preliminary terms of a potential trade.
Pierre Dorion has already had an incredible off-season, trading for Alex DeBrincat, signing Claude Giroux and adding Cam Talbot. While the Senators still need help on defense, they have taken significant steps forward. With Matthew's brother, Brady already signed long-term in Ottawa it's not hard to find a fit for the brothers.
With many teams looking to present their best offer in the next few days it will be interesting to see which teams emerge as favourites.
