On March 3, Ivan Miroshnichenko shared his diagnosis of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The highly regarded prospect for the 2022 NHL draft is expected to miss the entirety of his season with Omskie Krylia of the VHL in Russia for medical treatment. During an extremely difficult time for this young player, a legend who fought the same battle reached out to support him.
Mario Lemieux, one of the greatest players in Hockey history, also famously battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma and stepped away from the NHL for three years - before returning to play for 5 more years. I'm a video call, Lemieux expressed his support for Miroshnichenko in both health and in future hockey games.
A classy move from one of the game's greatest players. Like Mario, the rest of hockey world is thinking of Miroshnichenko and hoping for a quick return to the ice.
