Dallas Stars owner calls Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin ''pathetic''
The Dallas Stars snuck into the playoffs last season only to be eliminated by the Calgary Flames in the first round. There playoff appearance occured despite the performance of two of their highest paid players. Last season neither Jamie Benn or Tyler Seguin was as good as they'd like to have been.
Benn finished last season with 46 points in 82 games, while Seguin finished with 49 points in 81 games. The problem with this production is that Seguin makes $9,850,000 for the next 5 years while Benn makes $9,500,000 for 3 more seasons.
Today Dallas Stars owner, Tom Galgardi called out the play of his two highest paid forwards.
With those contracts they've got to bring more to the table. It hampers the team. It's getting a bit pathetic at this point.
With the salary cap holding steady for at least the next couple years, the Stars need more out of their leadership group. But this sort of comments are the type of things that drive players crazy.
