the Florida Panthers take on the Calgary Flames in the early game today. It's the first meeting between the two teams blockbuster trade this summer. Calgary Head coach Darryl Sutter did not have any hard feelings towards Matthew Tkachuk. In fact, Sutter praised Tkachuk for the good season he had last year in Calgary and approaching Brad Treliving about potentially leaving .

Sutter's comments make it seem like Tkachuk deserved to traded and get a lengthy contract extension. Now it's time for players and the organization to move on.

There were times last yr I felt sorry for Matthew. He was always at the rink...he couldn't do anything, go anywhere, or go home. Good on him for going to Brad about it. Obviously we lost a top player, but you score 40g, get 60a & you're +50... Good on ya

Although Florida gave up a ton to acquire Tkachuk, he's been Florida's best player so far this year. Tkachuk leads the team in scoring with twenty two points in fifteen games. Tkachuk signed an eight year contract extension with Florida, so he's there for the long haul. It remains to be seen how this entire trade works out.

Huberdeau and Weeger have struggled to find consistency in with their new team. In fact, Huberdeau has just two goals this year.

During the height of the pandemic it was incredible difficult for players to see their families for extended periods of time, especially if you had to cross the border. That circumstance can be very hard on a persons mind, it's good Sutter was able to recognize that
