Newly acquired Edmonton Oiler Derrick Brassard wasted little time in making an impact with his new team. In his very first game as an Oiler, Brassard scored the game winning goal in a 5-2 Oilers victory over the San Jose Sharks.
This wasn't just any game winning goal, but what was the significance of this goal? This goal made Brassard only the 7th players in NHL history to score game winning goals for 7 different franchises.
Brassard joins an impressive list of players who've accomplished this feat:
Lee Stempniak, Mike Sillinger, Jaromir Jagr, Bill Guerin, Matt Cullen, and Olli Jokinen
Derrick Brassard, 34, was acquired by the Edmonton Oilers from the Philadelphia Flyers for a 4th round pick in 2023 to add help add some additional offence as the Oilers compete for a playoff spot.
Brassard has 7 goals and 10 assists in 32 games this season. He has also played in 937 career games throughout his career racking up 201 goals and 319 assists.
