EA Sports makes decision that impacts Russia and Belarus
When the IIHF issued their sanctions against both Russia and Belarus for their Invasion of Ukraine, there were many who criticized this decision. Many felt as though there was no reason to punish the players for the decision of a Dictator. The punishments that were issued barred both teams from future tournaments, while also cancelling tournaments to be held in those countries.
Today EA Sports, the NHL's lead manufacturer of sports video games made the following announcement:
Following the IIHF's suspension of all Russian and Belarusian national and club teams from IIHF competitions. We will be removing these teams from NHL 22 within the coming weeks.
We stand with the people of Ukraine and join the voices around the world calling for peace.
This decision doesn't do anything to stop what is currently happening in Ukraine, but it does help to show the worldwide support for the Ukraine, while their citizens fight for their lives and freedom.
