PK Subban is still without a contract heading into next season. The veteran of 834 career NHL games just played the final year of an 8-year, $72,000,000 contract. Unfortunately for the former Norris Trophy winner, his next contract will likely be closer to league minimum.
Over the past week Subban as been connected to the San Jose Sharks, but he has yet to sign a contract with the team. According to Bruce Garrioch, the Ottawa Senators who are desperately trying to acquire a right handed defenseman, but ultimately decided Subban wasn't a fit for their organization.
Garrioch shared the following while on a Senators Podcast:
I think the #GoSensGo studied the option of a P.K. Subban but i don't see them signing him on a short-term deal. I won't sit here and rule out anybody, who knows, when you get to Sept 10th (and no ones signed) maybe a 1Y deal looks good.
It will be interesting to see if Subban comes to terms with a team in the coming weeks. There have been rumors that Subban is looking to sign to sign with a contender, so that ultimately may hold up the rumored deal with the Sharks.
