Charlie McAvoy has reportedly been dealing with a nagging injury this season.
So far it has not kept him out of the lineup, but now he will miss at least the next two games as the team placed him on IR, retroactive to the 12th this afternoon.
Unfortunately for the Bruins, the injuries do not end there. Forward Mark Kastelic has also been placed on IR and Hampus Lindholm has been moved to long-term injured reserve.
Kastelic last played on the 9th while Lindholm hasn't played since November.
These moves comes a single day after Don Sweeney ticked off Bruins fans with another controversial roster move.
The team has recalled Matthew Poitras and Michael Callahan from the Providence Bruins to serve as temporary replacements for Kastelic and McAvoy.
Again, Bruins fans may not be too happy with this move as many believe top prospect Fabian Lysell is the most deserving of a call up.
Furthermore, these injuries could not come at a much worse time for the Bruins.
Their schedule for the next week or so has several very important games on it including two contests against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday and next Thursday.
Currently, the Bruins are just two points ahead of Ottawa in the standings but the Senators have three games in hand, giving them an edge in terms of points percentage.
If the Bruins are going to make the playoffs this year it will likely be in a wild card spot so those games against the Senators are extremely important.
If they drop both of them, the Senators will pass them in the standings and still maintain their games-played advantage.
That could prove to be a very difficult thing to overcome for Boston.
