The East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) is in constant flux as the third tier professional hockey league in North America.
Some NHL teams have ECHL affiliates while others do not, and teams are constantly relocating or going defunct.
It is not unusual for teams to change their affiliations either, something that could be happening for one team in the near future.
In 2023, the Carolina Hurricanes announced an affiliation deal with the Norfolk Admirals but that agreement could very well be in jeopardy.
Last October, the ECHL approved an expansion plan bringing the league to Greensboro, North Carolina.
Now we know more details about the team. It is owned by Zawyer Sports and entertainment group, an organization that also owns several other teams in the southeast including the Charlotte Checkers and Savannah Ghost Pirates.
However, the company has also welcomed several new part-owners of the club.
They are the Spittin' Chiclets guys, Paul Bissonnette, Ryan Whitney, Mike Grinnell, and Keith Yandle.
This could be a major win for the podcast as they look to continue spreading their influence and growing their brand in the hockey world.
They certainly seem to be excited about the move. Here is what Paul Bissonnette said about the acquisition.
Be sure to tune into the press conference for the exciting announcement!
