The Edmonton Oilers had a tough end to their season last year. After being one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, the Oilers ultimately lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round of last year's playoffs.

Now with aspirations of once again hoisting the Cup, the Oilers have continued to reshape their organization. While changes have been in full swing on the ice, today the Oilers announced a major change off of the ice.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet was the first on the story, which was quickly confirmed by the Oilers. The Oilers have made a major change to their front office by hiring Jeff Jackson as their President & CEO. Jackson will officially take over all things hockey.

In his new role, Jackson will report directly to Katz and serve as an Alternate Governor on the NHL Board of Governors. He will oversee all aspects of OEGSE's NHL, AHL and WHL hockey operations. Jackson will work closely with Ken Holland, who continues in his role as President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers and will report to Jackson. Paul Coffey, who has been with the Oilers as a Special Advisor to Daryl Katz for more than a year and has been integral to bringing Jeff to OEGSE, will also assist Jackson in his new role with the organization.

Jackson is/was Connor McDavid's agent (and Connor Brown, Alex DeBrincat, Aaron Ekblad, Quinton Byfield, and others)

While Ken Holland will continue to operate the Oilers he will now report directly to Jackson. Jackson is extremely well respected and has some of the highest expectations, so for the Oilers getting close likely won't be enough going forward.
