Edmonton Oilers' General Manager, Ken Holland has had a busy summer. Holland set out to try and improve his team after being swept by the eventual Cup Champions in the Western Conference Finals. Holland began the summer by re-signing Evander Kane, before finding a permanent solution in goal, when he signed Jack Campbell.
Now rumors are swirling the Holland is closing in on deals with both PK Subban and Phil Kessel. However, to make those move the Oilers need to create some more cap space. So a trade appears imminent to help Holland acquire his targets.
According to Montreal Hockey Now, the Edmonton Oilers are looking to trade forward Jesse Puljujärvi, who agreed toone-year, $3 million contract earlier this offseason.David Staples, an NHL Insider shared that there are at least eight teams interested in acquire Puljujarvi.
Staples listed the Canadiens (depending on what happens with Carey Price'), as a potential NHL trade suitor for Puljujärvi, as well as the Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Winnipeg Jets, and Ottawa Senators. If any team is interested in acquiring Puljujarvi they should attempt to wait until closer to training camp when the Oilers will be forced to lower their asking price. The price for Puljujarvi currently sits at a 2nd round picks, but could drop to multiple mid-round picks if the Oilers become desperate to get a deal done.
