Erik Karlsson proves he's finally health as he absolutely undresses Canucks' defender
It continues to be quite the turnaround season for Erik Karlsson. After being traded to San Jose, it seemed that Karlsson's best days might be behind him. However, this year Karlsson is playing some of his best hockey. Karlsson is already close to passing point totals from the last several season and he's only played twenty-four games thus far. The Swedish defenseman is fifth in points in the National Hockey League. Maybe Karlsson is playing well to be traded or maybe he is feeling healthy and comfortable in San Jose. Either way, he looks like the Karlsson of old when he used to put up big offensive numbers in Ottawa.
Check out this replay in last nights loss to Vancouver. Karlsson swiftly puts the puck through the legs of Vancouver forward Sheldon Dries and generated a scoring chance by firing a wrist shot on goal.
You can see that Karlsson is playing full of confidence right now. Making a move like that on the blueline does carry risk, but when it is well executed at full speed it is fun to see. There are not many defensemen who are willing to try that move or even execute it in a game. Karlsson is making things look easy out there. If Karlsson continues his good play, surely San Jose will listen to offers for the offensive minded defenseman.
