Evander Kane is one of the most polarizing figures in hockey today, whether it be on or off the ice. The Edmonton Oilers forward, who's been out of the lineup since mid November with a wrist injury, is certainly making the most of his time away from the game of hockey.
The holiday season can be a struggle for many people around the world. According to Kane's verified Twitter account, he's doing what he can to make it a little easier on some families, take a look:
Kane helped 117 kids and by extension their parents go on a shopping spree and get what they want either for themselves or people in their family. Witch the holiday season fast approaching, I'm sure this had a great impact on their holiday spirit.
Some people may say that posting this kind of good deed on social media takes away from the impact of what Kane did, but I disagree, self promotion in todays world is needed. It's nice to see a hockey player making a significant amount of money jive back to the less fortunate in their own community and give them opportunities they may not have otherwise.
Most notably from this gesture when Kane found out some of the kids spent money on groceries, he took additional funds out of his account to make sure they could buy the toys they deserved for Christmas.
