Evander Kane post sounds a lot like a goodbye to Edmonton
Evander Kane posted the following message to his Instragram.
Thank you to all the fans who supported me this year. To everyone who doubted me, I thank you as well. To my Oilers teammates, I appreciate each and every single one of you for welcoming me in and embracing me in such a genuine way. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to play with suck a committed, hardworking and loyal group of men. The Edmonton Oilers are a first class organization with such a great staff from top to bottom and I thank them for giving me the opportunity to play for such a historic franchise. To the fans of Edmonton I thank you for treating my family and I wish such kindness and respect.
Thanks You,

To me this post sounds like Kane is saying goodbye to the Oilers. With his rumored asking price being $7 million a year it certainly could be. Kane has filed for bankruptcy so it makes sense for him to try and make as much money as possible. Your only a pro athlete for so long.
The Oilers head into the offseason with a little over $7,000,000 in cap space according to CapFriendly. They have RFAs Ryan McLeod, Kailer Yamamoto, and Jesse Puljujarvi to sign with the latter two having arbitration rights. They also need to find a goalie to share the workload with Mike Smith. If Kane's asking price is correct things might be too tight to keep him around.
Money isn't the only thing clouding Kane's offseason plans. There is also the ongoing lawsuit with the San Jose Sharks. For a player so used to controversy he will be right in his element this offseason.
