Evander Kane punished by NHL Player Safety for an extremely dangerous knee
Evander Kane has received a call from NHL Player Safety and is being fines $5,000 the maximum allowable amount for a kneeing incident against the LA Kings.
The play in question occurred during the 2nd period when Kane approached Sean Durzi. Kane extended his knee and caught Durzi with a knee-on-knee collision.
This is an extremely dangerous knee, especially because Kane even lifts his own leg off the ice to offer himself some protection before making a connection with Durzi.
Kane was given a 2-minute minor on the play, but it likely should have been a major. Durzi remained in the game, but this is another instance of the NHL policing injuries and not intent because this is a truly dangerous play.
