Fans call out the San Jose Sharks for disrespecting Mario Lemieux
Today the San Jose Sharks announced that they'd signed defenseman Mario Ferraro to a four year contract. The announcement came via their Twitter account as they announced they'd re-signed "Super Mario".
The problem? Everyone in hockey knows that the nickname "Super Mario" is reserved for one of the best players of all-time, Mario Lemieux. Hockey fans were quick to let the Sharks know exactly how they felt about their misuse of the name.
It's clear hockey fans still have respect for the greats, while some of these social media managers clearly don't.
