Chris Tanev of the Calgary Flames is definitely the kind of guy who's willing to leave everything on the ice in an attempt to win a game. He probably left a couple of teeth out there last night after willingly blocking a shot with his face.
Tanev appeared to take the puck right on the chin after a shot by William Karlsson of the Vegas Golden Knights. The announcers were left wondering how he ever managed to get off the ice himself, and even called for the replay department to stop showing it.
Following the game, Calgary head coach Ryan Huska had no update on Tanev's condition other than he was moving around ok. He praised Tanev for his willingness to make sacrifices for the team.
"You wish that everybody has what he has. He's got a different level of courage that if you can give a little bit of what he's got to other guys on your team, oh man. Pretty special person."
Knowing Tanev, he'll likely be right back out there next game, sporting some new stiches or something along those lines. He is definitely an old-school type of player.
