Dominik Simon started his career in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins and has played with the Calgary Flames, along with the Anaheim Ducks and here ends his NHL career after his 17 game season with the Ducks.

Simon will be returning to where it all it started in Czechia, with HC Sparta Praha, after his last season in the NHL was lackluster.

The flat cap era is killing a lot of depth, as far as 4th liners go and it seems like every other day we get news of players heading back home to play, or to Russia to play in the KHL(i.e. Ryan Murphy, Josh Ho-Sang) and Simon is another case.

Simon played in 256 NHL split putting up 22 goals and 55 assists for a career total of 77 points. He was included in the Rickard Rakell trade most recently, which sent him to the Ducks, where he averaged 10 minutes on ice a night.

He had another opportunity for a PTO with the Pittsburgh Penguins after this season he opted to go back home for a guaranteed spot back home.

Until then a good performance in the Czech Extraliga should garner some eyes from NHL GMs to bring him back in another league minimum contract as a depth option.
