Former NHL defenceman Ryan Whitney was on his podcast Spittin' Chiclets and was running down his top 5 list for the Hart Trophy.

On his list "Whit" had Igor Shesterkin, Johnny Gaudreau, Roman Josi, Auston Matthews and Cale Makar. Those are all worthy candidates no doubt but two huge names from the Oilers were excluded from that list. Maybe Whitney was having a few too many Pink Whitney's before recording his podcast.

It's hard to take his list seriously without having #1 and #2 in the NHL Scoring Race on it. Connor McDavid has 39 goals and 102 points in 68 games. Leon Draisaitl has 49 goals and 99 points in 69 games. The Oilers are 3rd in the Pacific with 83 points. If the Oilers can make the playoffs and McDavid and Draisaitl hold their places in the scoring race you have to give one of those two the at least some Hart consideration.

Shesterkin has had an unbelievable season for the Rangers with a 2.13 GAA and .934 Save %. Josi the same with the Predators 18 goals and 81 points in 66 games. They should be getting some hardware at the end of the season. They are my picks for the Vezina and Norris Trophy.
