Former NHLer interested in becoming an astronaut
Many NHLers have other passions outside of the game of hockey, some own restaurants while others own other businesses ventures. At least one former NHLer has a serious interest in something out of this world. Ilya Bryzgalov has always been a very unique character, once sharing he was only afraid of a bear in the forest.
It appears since his NHL career ended that Bryzgalov has taken up a true passion in outer space. Even going as far as to say he's extremely interested in becoming an astronaut. Bryzgalov now is working towards a degree in Cosmology. Cosmology is a subsection of astronomy that focuses on the origins and evolution of the universe, from the Big Bang to where we are today and where we're going in the future.
Years ago the former NHL goalie shared the following information:
Right now I'm very into the universe you know. Like what is it? Like how it was created. The Solar system is so humongous big, right? But you see like our solar system, our galaxy on the side right it's so small you can't even see it.. and you think like, we have some problems here on the Earth we worry about? Compared to like? Nothing. Just be happy. Don't worry be happy right now.
So it might only be a matter of time before Bryzgalov gets that much closer to making a trip up to the International Space Station.
